How much do you tip your hair stylist?

This may sound like a dumb question but I haven’t gotten my hair professionally done in years since I was in college. Prices and tip culture have changed a lot since then. How much are you expected to tip your hair stylist? 20%? If my hair were to cost $500, am I expected to tip $100 on top of that? Is it really rude not to?
