watching gossip girl feels like i’m being gaslighted

just two examples here but

• nate gets mad at vanessa for scheming with chuck in an attempt to make him jealous, proceeds to tell her “congratulations you’re just like blair waldorf” then proceeds to run after said blair waldorf and profess his love and want for her.

• lily basically shames the hell out of serena for her actions saying that she’s a terrible person with a messed up moral compass and no sense of responsibility, then when serena said she feels like she could never make a mistake because lily looks at her like a bad person and then lily turns in the SAME CONVERSATION and says she can never see serena as a bad person and that she has her trust completely ://

im just so confused with this show. they will show you such immoral sides of the characters which is basically their entire personality then turn around and attempt to make them look like a saint of sorts? someone worth your empathy? another example of this would be blair losing her access to yale and it’s like yeah … she fucking deserves to lose yale because she’s the worst kind of bully!! literal psychological torture and she’s also a pathological liar??

i tried giving this show a try and it’s entertaining for sure but when you try to dissect it just makes ur brain go …????..??…….

not to mention they’re all swapping each other out like lego pieces it’s actually odd.
