Has Opihr changed?

I was looking for a spicier gin to add to my collection, and reading a few posts and comments that mentioned Opihr, I decided to try it. I found a 1 litre bottle for 25 euros at my grocery store, which seemed kind of a steal and I grabbed it. Some people here stated it's a polarizing gin, for it's smell and taste; many spices to get the flavour up including cumin and cardamom, almost to make it smell like armpit or heavy indian cuisine. So as I opened the bottle and took a first whiff, I was somewhat disappointed: to me it doesn't have any particular strong or weird smell, I think of it as a slighty more complex "basic" gin. I tried it straight on the rocks, in a gin tonic with a couple of different tonics and diluted in sparkling water, and I don't think it's very different from, say, Tanqueray. It has for sure a slightly stronger spicy aftertaste, but aside from that I wouldn't say it's a heavy flavorful gin. So back to title, maybe the recipe has changed, to make it more palatable and "commercial"?
