traveling with an unopened imac

did christmas out of state with the in laws, received an imac desktop computer. debating how to get it back. the box itself has a fabric handle, and i could carry the box through the airport like a briefcase, then check it as luggage. the box shows exactly what’s inside, but it does have a seal that wpuld show if it’s been opened or tampered with at all. or i can ship it. both options seem equally as possible for it to end up lost or damaged, and i would prefer not to wait for it in the mail (purely because im impatient i guess) but is it worth the risk of taking it through the airport? i dont know, what would you do?
