[Mufasa] Scar wouldn't have betrayed Mufasa over THAT

Spoilers obviously

The reason scar betrayed Mufasa was just down right ridiculous. I managed to look past the obvious retconning of the movie, but that was just dumb. The first third of the movie establishes Scars (or Takas) relationship with Mufasa and it's a very sweet brotherhood. I was legitimately touched when Taka let Mufasa win the race, it was SO sweet!

But anyway, point is, you can't establish that good of a relationship and then break it over a girl. Basically for those who haven't watched the movie, Scar gets a crush on Sarabi and then betrays Mufasa, when he sees them be all romantic together.

Not just that, but Scar legit snitched on Mufasa to the lion that murdered his (Scars) parents. That was so stupid from a writing standpoint, I can't take it seriously. You're gonna do all that because of a crush??? Come on Scar.

I feel like the movie would've worked better for me if the conflict wasn't that Sarabi, who Scar had talked to maybe twice, chose Mufasa over him, but instead Mufasa choosing Sarabi over Scar or something. Scar and Sarabi are both Royalty and looking for a new country so idk maybe there could've been some conflict. Or legit just make it Scars jealousy over not wanting to give Mufasa the throne! There was some indication early on that he felt somewhat inferior to Mufasa, build on that instead of making it a dumb love triangle!

There are tons of "brothers becoming enemies" stories out there, never has a reason for this been so dumb. I got such whiplash when he betrayed Mufasa, it felt so unnatural and ridiculous, I can't say it often enough.

At least the songs were good and the visuals were stunning and they animated the lions faces more than they did in the first hyper realistic 3D lion king movie. Also I thought making "I have a secret" a bit of a catchphrase for Taka was a pretty cool idea, considering that's what Scar also says at the end of the Lion King, right before Simba beats him.

Tldr: Its ridiculous to make Scar snitch on Mufasa to his parents murderer just because he felt rejected by a girl he spoke to twice.
