Shipping personal used car from NZ - implicit costs?
Considering shipping my NZ car to Melbourne. Owned it for over 4 years and was quite happy about it, although it's not new (2015). I'd be happy to proceed if it breaks even, or even is a bit more expensive - the added stress of selling and choosing/buying/inspecting another used car is not worth it in my opinion, but want to make sure than I'm not missing any big cost.
For simplicity all prices are in AUD. The exact same model/year with similar ODO is ~$4-5k more to buy here in Melbourne than what I can sell it for in NZ (think $11-12k vs $16k)
Got a shipping quote from local NZ port for ~$3k (4-5 weeks), which came with a big disclaimer:
Not Included: Marine Insurance; All duties, taxes, GST and Government Charges; All additional costs as a result of quarantine requirements including but not exclusively; cleaning, fumigation, vacuuming, re-inspection, and storage fees; On-road costs such as vehicle compliance, or Registration
How much those costs can amount to? Regarding quarantine, I used the car in NZ outdoors a little bit, is that a big risk? or just requires a one-off professional cleaning or detailing?
Thanks everyone.
