2004 Ford Focus 1.8L should I buy?

I have someone selling a 2004 ford focus 1.8l manual with 87,000kms on the clock, they are asking $2600 but I got them down to $2300 & will pick it up tomorrow? Are there any major things I should look at before I buy it, someone mentioned that they are a timing belt instead of chain & the rubber belts have caused issues in these but that’s all I know, someone also said they’re like cockroaches because people beat the shit out of them and they don’t die.

Just to add here, I’m downgrading from a 2016 Holden Cruze auto that is a ticking time bomb, I see this downgrade as an upgrade. Everyone that asks me what I drive I feel afraid to tell them it’s a Holden Cruze because I get the typical “why did you get a Cruze? The worst car bought to Australia” comment.
