What has been up with the weather this year? Typical British thing to moan about but still..

We had a couple of weeks of summer (as usual) but the rest just so depressing and cloudy all the time. I have an indoor aloe vera plant that doesn't even seem to know wtf is going on and has started growing!

Why cant we just have normal seasons instead of either giant heatwaves at random points or shit weather all year long.
