Is it a mistake moving to London?

Hey guys, 28M graphic designer from Melbourne. I’ll try keep this short as I can, I’m really torn so I would love the opinion of those who’ve made the move

Pros:
• Single, have no commitments
• Have 6 my close mates all moving together (Apr-May 2025)
• Could be a now or never move
• Another life experience (huge EPL fan too)
• Opportunity for personal growth

Cons:
• Expensive as hell
• Sacrificing career growth
• I’ll be 29-30 coming back to Melb. Feel I’ll be behind w/ no property etc.
• Just returned from 7 months backpacking South America after resigning, costing 31,000 AUD (£15,000). Also have to resign and find design work again - not only when I arrive to London, but eventually returning to Melbourne again (finding design jobs has been hell since returning from my trip, even with 4+ years full-time experience)

Financial wise I currently have 47,000 AUD (£24,000) in savings + stocks, but expected to be around the 55,000 mark (£28,000) come April next year when my mates leave

My main concerns are returning at 30 and my career. Upon returning I’ll have no property and would’ve resigned from my last 3 design roles (Dec 2023 for South America, April 2025 before London, then again leaving London to return to Melb)

But on the flip side in years to come I feel I’ll regret at least not giving it a try. A few years of career hiccups over a 40-50 year career span is really not that much in the grand scheme of things

Any opinions or personal experiences of people who’ve done it or know anything about London would be amazing. I’m pretty torn so it would be a great help
