AIO?

My apartment unit has had serious moisture issues since I moved in. It’s worse in the winter , leaving all my windows extremely condensed. This has and will continue to lead to mold and other health hazards. I reported this to my landlord , and the maintenance team brought out a de-humidifier. I’ve had it on and running 24/7 for the last week and a half. It never gets below 50% condensation level and I’m having to empty the thing once to twice a day. Anyways , today maintenance called me and asked how the machine was working. I told him that it keeps it at 50% and that I’m pretty much constantly running and emptying it. He told me it would be best for me to invest in my own dehumidifier. I told him the cheapest one I’ve found is $150 and I can’t pull that as I’m a 35 week pregnant woman and only husband is working. He told me he will need to come get theirs in a week.

This seems odd to me that if the problem hasn’t been solved he would request for me to spend my own money on an appliance instead of leaving theirs here ?? Is there any laws regarding this ? Call me dramatic but it seemed weird to me. And I’m looking for advise !
