Preboarding Confusion

I’m totally confused if families with children under 2 is really qualified for Preboarding. Can anyone chime in with their experiences?

For context, we flew out of SFO to EWR and we were allowed to go during Preboarding at SFO.

On the way back we were not allowed to Preboard at EWR and went after First Class. They announced that people with disabilities and need time can board and so we came up and the GA said they are not taking families yet. I told him that per policy on Alaska Airlines we are qualified to Preboard. He told us we needed to wait after First Class has gone through.

Edit: I want to add more context here. I wasn’t trying to argue with the GA. When we came up to line up for preboarding because we were preboarded in the previous flight, he told us we’re not taking families. So I said softly I’m confused to myself and not towards the GA. He responds “excuse me” so I answered him stating we were able to Preboard our previous flight and showed him the policy on the website. Was met with silence and it’s at this point my wife told me to drop it. Folks on here have said they updated the policy late June but that hasn’t translated to their website as it’s currently outdated.
