Norwich’s favourite son… Alden Partridge!

I read about this chap this morning in A Walk In The Woods by Bill Bryson. Apart from arguing over the pronunciation of Norwich (the one in Vermont is “Nor-witch”) I feel like they’d get on very well, sharing keen interests in long walks, military tactics and the pleasure of owning a barometer. There’s no mention in the Wikipedia entry of Alden ever considering eating the unusual buildup of dry skin and belt chafings found on his stomach, but you never know.
