Help with a stuck extruder

I have an Ender 5 plus in my classroom with a Microswiss NG direct extruder. I can feed the filament by pushing it through, and I replaced the tip. I even took the tip completely out and it still would not feed. The gears just click, click, click but no filament comes out. I also trued cleaning out the gears from filament debris. Any ideas?
